Weekly Report...Week 1

I'm hosting a pity party and you are all invited. This week was so far from the, "Yay, Mom! We are so excited about starting school!" "Great, boys! This is going to be an awesome year!" week I had envisioned.

It went more like this:

Me: "Boys. Time to get up. We're starting school today."

Boys: "Noooooooooooooooooooooooo. We don't want to."

Nice. Real nice.

The week was FULL of whining (them), lost patience (me), and illness (all of us).

Maybe they can sense that I am just not "into it" this year. It's our 5th year homeschooling, and I am having a lot of difficulty getting motivated. I don't even want to browse through the crisp, oh-so-good smelling homeschool catalogs that arrive in the mail.

This summer has been difficult. Rough. I thought that by putting it to an end, we'd be able to put it behind us. I don't know. We'll see what next week brings.

Oh...and would you believe that I didn't even take a "First Day of School" picture? Maybe that was the problem.

ETA: Barb is a big source of inspiration and encouragement for me. Her blog post today could not have come at a better time. Had me in tears.

(((Hugs)))...I'm so sorry. I'm avoiding doing our weekly report because it was a bit less than stellar, as well. I think that us Moms all need to get away; my patience is very thin, as well.

Maybe you can start a fun back to school tradition. Maybe on Friday you could go to Stake & Shake for a burger and Shakes (kids eat free on the weekend). Or some other fun thing that would put a smile on your kiddo's faces. Sometimes it does take a bit to get back into the swing of things. Anyway, I hope next week finds your family in better school spirits. :) Best wishes.

So sorry your first week didn't go as planned! We've had our fair share of whiny/lost patience days so I completely understand. thanks for sharing Barb's post, that was great and very timely!

aww...I'm sorry your first day wasn't so sweet.
To be honest I'm not looking forward to our first day of school either because I'm not ready. We've done nothing but run, run, run all summer long and I haven't had time to take a breath and prepare for school. I told my husband yesterday I need to go back to school so we can get a break and life can calm down, but truthfully I'm going to miss not having the lazy day's of summer this year. We did make some awesome memories though :)
BTW, I'm blog walking
