Sketch Tuesday

Remember how last week all I wanted to do was crawl into bed and not do school, but I was able to push through and get our studies accomplished? Well, we were also able to do our sketches for Harmony Art Mom Barb's Sketch Tuesday, but get this...we did them on Friday! They aren't even due 'til Monday but we got them done on Friday! Woo hoo! (It's the cheerleader in me.)

This week's assignment was to sketch something you wear on your hands. So, without further delay, here are our sketches...

This is the one Thane drew. They are snowflake gloves. He was smart and traced around his hand to give him the shape. No matter he traced his left hand twice! Totally cute!

Here is Magnus' creation. He drew both gloves and mittens. I love the way he has them overlapping. I guess both my kids have two left hands!

You can't tell from this image, but this is a sketch of my wedding ring, given to me by my beloved husband, almost 11 years ago. Oh, and it's on my left hand!

Be sure to use the link above to check out the sketches others did.

Sketch Tuesday

It has been awhile since we have participated in Harmony Art Mom's Sketch Tuesday. The boys reminded me of it after we had lunch with Barb on Friday. This week's topic was right up our alley. It was...sketch something that lives in the desert. The boys and I just started a unit on the cactus desert last week!

This sketch was made by Magnus...

I like the way the sun is casting shadows on the cactus!

Here is Thane's...
He added some great mountains in the background!

If you are interested in participating, head on over to Barb's blog (linked at the top of the post) to find out what next week's topic is, sketch your image, and email it to her by dinner time on the Monday before! People of all ages are welcomed!

Sketch Tuesday

This week for Sketch Tuesday you will notice there are four sketches. We had some quality family time and ALL participated! The boys were especially excited to have Dad drawing by their side.

This week we were suppose to draw a picture with an umbrella in it. Here are our
creations...

Thane's

Magnus'

Mine

Collin's...Yep, he's got talent!

You can check out all of the other sketches at Barb's The Heart of Harmony blog. You and your family can participate too! No need to sign up and no age limits! Just be sure to email your drawings to her by Monday night! Her email address is listed at the end of the Sketch Tuesday posts. It's a great time!

Sketch Tuesday

The boys and I have been enjoying this challenge. We sit down together and do it as part of our Fine Arts Fridays. This week's assignment was to sketch something that was "alive".

This is Magnus' picture of a rattle snake.
I like the little "motion lines" he included around the rattle.

This is Thane's picture of an Octopus.
I like the way he used the whole piece of paper for his sketch.

Here is mine. I am enjoying this!

Be sure to check out all the fantastic sketches at Barb's Heart of Harmony Blog. See you next week! Oh, it won't be the "official" sketch Tuesday next week since Barb is taking a break from school, but I will have something posted that we created on Friday.

Sketch Tuesday

We finally got on the ball and completed our sketches to join the others at Barb's Heart of Harmony Sketch Tuesday. This week we had to draw something "blue". Our thoughts have been on birds (thanks to our nature study and my love of them!) and spring time (thanks to the warming temperatures here) so we all did sketches having to do with that.

This is Thane's drawing of a blue bird flying over him and Magnus.

This is Magnus's drawing of Robin's eggs in a nest.

This is my picture of Robin's eggs in a nest. I do not claim to be any sort of artist, but I sure like trying!

If you are looking for a fun, easy, art project to do with your kiddos, this is perfect. We have a good time drawing together and seeing what each other comes up with. Just visit Barb's Heart of Harmony site to get next week's lesson and then email the sketches to her by Monday night to be included in that week's blog entry. It exciting to see everyone's drawings! It's a virtual art show!

(I know I am posting this on Monday, but I wanted to be sure to get it up in case Collin takes his laptop to school tomorrow!)

Sketch Tuesday

Is it Tuesday already? Barb at the Heart of Harmony asked us to sketch something that represents our state. You can read the full instructions and see everyone's pictures from last week here. The other sketches are fantastic!

Here is what Magnus came up with this week...

I think Thane still has the civil war on his mind
since our nature walk last week...

I know the boys would love to read your comments about their drawings so feel free to leave them one! And check back next Tuesday for their latest sketches!

Sketch Tuesday

In my attempt to becoming more relaxed and of "like mind" with Charlotte Mason, we are going to participate in Barb at Heart of Harmony's Sketch Tuesday. The boys and I will have "Fine Art Fridays" when we will work on our sketching assignment while listening to classical music. I am still thinking about working in a composer study of the person's music we will be listening to, but nothing too in depth.

This week's assignment was to sketch your bed. Here is what the boys came up with...

This is Thane's sketch. That is him jumping on his trampoline.

This one Magnus drew. He sleeps on the top bunk. If you notice, they both drew the punching bag Collin made for them. If you missed that post, you can see it here.

You can check out all of the participant's entries at Heart of Harmony on Tuesdays. Also, if you want to start doing this all you need to do is check out her blog for the week's sketch subject, have a "sketching session" and then email your pictures to Barb at harmonyfinearts@yahoo.com by Monday night.

Be sure to check back next week to see our sketches!
